I don’t always feel like listening to music.
Today was one of those days.

I brought coffee into the studio. Lit some incense.
Felt more like listening to a voice —
So I played a @dimitramilan video on YouTube, like it was a podcast.

Today was about precision. Oil details.
Quiet work. Slow focus.
And somehow, that felt just right.

Do you have a ritual that helps you focus or slow down — even on busy days? Do you work with podcasts or with music?

I know I don’t speak perfectly.
And yeah, some sounds are just not happening — because I have half-face paralysis.
But guess what? People still understand me.
I put all my effort into it. And when words don’t come out…
No worries.

I think this one’s going to be the most personal piece in the whole collection.
It’s based on a photo my dad took — my grandpa and my little sister fishing.
There’s a lot of emotion in it for me.
Started with a really watery, intuitive underpainting…
no plan, just letting it come through.

🎥 Sharing the first steps — before it becomes something.

I had the setup: acrylics, a ceramic palette my grandma made, Mediterranean flowers all around.
Everything looked good.

Started painting skin tones. But halfway through I stared at the two figures and thought:
“They’re not standing. Not working.”

So now I’ve decided… oils will have to come in and save the day.

Acrylics did what they could — but this job needs backup.

I’ve never been the sketchbook type.
I’ve tried, but it always felt forced.
So I use my camera.
I walk, I pause, I take a photo.
Sometimes it becomes a painting.
Sometimes it just stays in my memory folder.

Before a single brushstroke, there’s this part.

I buy the raw cotton canvas by the metre, build the frame, stretch it, and apply two coats of clear gesso. It takes a few days before I can even begin painting — and weirdly, I’ve grown to love this stage.

It’s slow. It’s physical. It connects me to the piece in a way no pre-made canvas ever did.

I used to skip showing this part. But lately I think: if someone brings a painting home, maybe they’d want to know where it really began.

This painting caught me by surprise.
It started like any other — a soft idea, an old photo from Costa Brava, a quiet afternoon in the studio.
But something shifted halfway. The composition, the colors… maybe even the format. It just worked.
I found myself loving the outcome more than I expected.

Funny how the ones you don’t overthink often become your favorites.

Also — I had another little studio buddy with me this week (my sister’s dog).
Maybe that helped too. 🐾

No music.
No voiceover.
Just brush on canvas in the background.

The quiet parts matter too.

But here?
I just enjoyed it.
I loved every part of the process.
These pieces may be tiny, but they feel so simple and full.

These two paintings come from quiet places I didn’t expect to revisit today.

One is from last year at Platja del Trabucador, in the Delta de l’Ebre.
One of those slow, barefoot afternoons where the world feels paused.

The other is from Gavà, on an October day.
It was sunny, warm even—but we were almost alone on the beach.

I’ve always loved both pictures.
And somehow… they made their way onto the canvas.

This isn’t part of my usual work.
It’s something my therapist suggested: to paint without planning, without filtering—just feeling.

So I gave in to abstraction. Used my hands, my brushes, whatever colors I felt like.
It’s not finished. It’s not meant to be.
I’ll come back to it when I need to.

Also… why do I always record in the ugliest clothes I own?
Yes, I do have a wardrobe. No, you’ll never see it in these reels 😂

Have you ever painted just to let something out?

I’ve loved this painting from the very beginning.
Just how it started — pouring paint and seawater onto the canvas, scraping sand into it and watching it stick to the color — it felt incredibly freeing.

Freeing because, for once, I didn’t care about the materials.
I just knew they were going to work with me.

I got completely into the moment — getting messy with sand and blue paint.
There was wind, but it didn’t bother me.
The sun was warm on my skin, but it didn’t burn.

I loved being there — letting go while my loved ones ran and laughed around me.
I felt so calm. So full of love.

Creative freedom in real life? Looks like this.
Came to paint. Planned to film it all.
Forgot the reel halfway through.
Thank god Carlos remembered 😅
The result? One of the most honest painting sessions I’ve had in ages.
No pressure. No perfection.
Just a beach, my brush, and the people I love.
That’s what creative freedom looks like — and I’m keeping it that way.

Not my usual setup.

I’ve followed @victoriarosepark plein air work for years — so I grabbed my stuff, went to the beach, and tried it myself.

Just me, the wind, the paint… and a whole lot of sand everywhere 😂

We parked in Port Lligat, right by Dalí’s house.
We reached Cadaqués following the quick route Google Maps suggested.

After lunch, I had a brilliant idea:
“Let’s take the scenic route back.”

Camí de Ronda: zero balance, one dog, one clumsy artist, one very patient Carlos @carlosjo21

I even lost a jacket somewhere along a cliff… and didn’t notice.

But somewhere in the middle of the chaos, I took a photo.
A quiet beach moment — the kind that stays with you.
That photo became the starting point for this painting.

What really pulled me in, though?
The invisible threads between the people in that scene.
Their gestures. Their stillness.
Their story.

Still untitled.

🎶 “I’m too messy”
The third painting from Down the Memory Lane is finished —
and so is any trace of tidiness in my studio.

But there’s something beautiful in the chaos, at least for me (mama knows it).
The stained papers, open jars, watery brushes, and all the acrylic tubes scattered around...
This mess? It's proof something real is happening.

This was a last-minute addition—something instinctive.

I’ve always admired how @victoriarosepark adds textured color marks to her paintings. It feels honest, tactile, and human. That inspired me to try something of my own.

For each painting in my new series, I’m now adding five marks of color, made with pigment and molding paste. They reflect the only colors I see with my bad eye.

I have limited vision in this eye. What stays with me are just a few color blocks—usually five. No detail. Just emotional impressions.

This is the most personal part of the painting.

Sempre m’ha inspirat com Victoria Rose Park incorpora marques de color amb textura a les seves obres. És una manera honesta i humana de connectar amb la pintura.

A cada quadre de la nova sèrie hi afegeixo ara cinc marques de color. Reflecteixen els colors que aconsegueixo veure amb l'ull dolent.

Tinc visió limitada en aquest ull. El que em queda són només unes poques taques de color—normalment cinc. Sense detalls. Només impressió emocional.

És la part més personal del quadre.

Close-up moments in the studio… I’ve been working on this coastal town painting while listening to the thoughtful words of @brookecormier on her YouTube channel. I really enjoy her insights and the calm, honest way she shares her artistic journey. It feels like the perfect companion while I create

Mornings are when I feel most productive and connected to my work. And although we all know we should "take care of ourselves," I feel (me, the first!) that we rarely give it the space it deserves. Creating in peace, with something inspiring in the background, is my small way of practicing it.

A quiet start to something meaningful.

There’s always something sacred about the first moment of a new painting. This time, it’s the beginning of a very special portrait commission that holds deep personal meaning for the family who entrusted me with it. I love how the soft turquoise flows onto the raw cotton, like a memory taking shape. I can’t wait to see where this journey leads.

I always choose colors that bring calm, warmth, and timeless beauty to a home 💙

I’m an artist based just outside Barcelona. I’ve spent the past years exploring painting—portraits, abstracts, landscapes... and a mix of mediums, always trying to find my own voice.

Right now, something quieter is calling me.
I’ve just started a new collection of landscape fragments and moments, instants, memories tied to the Mediterranean Sea. Painted with acrylic on raw cotton canvas, these works are honest, emotional, and deeply personal.

Hola, sóc la Mireia 🤍
Sóc artista i visc a prop de Barcelona. Els últims anys he estat explorant la pintura—retrats, abstractes, paisatges... i una barreja de tècniques, buscant la meva pròpia veu.

Ara mateix, sento que em crida alguna cosa més natural, més tranquil·la.
Acabo de començar una nova col·lecció de fragments de paisatges i moments, instants, records lligats al mar Mediterrani. Pintats amb acrílic sobre tela de cotó en brut, són obres sinceres, emocionals i molt meves.

No sé exactament cap a on em portarà aquesta col·lecció, però la deixo créixer a poc a poc,.

I didn’t know I was starting a collection. Actually, the idea hit me just after signing the painting.
I just painted a photography I really liked and that made me feel still in Cadaqués.

I called it "Colors del Mediterrani".

And so, later I saw it clearly: it was the first fragment.

"Down the Memory Lane – Mediterranean Fragments"
is my journey back through painted memories along mediterranean water — one canvas at a time.

Només vaig pintar una fotografia que m'agradava i em feia sentir encara a Cadaqués.

Va començar amb una foto feta en un bon dia molt assolellat.
D’aquells dies que no saps que es quedaran amb tu.
No he pintat la foto — vaig pintar com se sentia.

Aquesta peça és només una nota dins d’una història més gran.

Yesterday, the world stood still.
No electricity. No screens.
A society made powerless by its own choices.
Some lives today depend completely on this digital world.
Yesterday was a wake-up call.
We cannot keep building our lives around digitalization alone.
We must return to real connection, to nature, to what truly sustains the soul.

I felt grateful that what I do — painting — doesn't stop when the power goes out.
I simply moved outside, into the sunlight, and continued creating.
Art lives beyond the screens.

Ahir, el món es va aturar.
Sense electricitat. Sense pantalles.
Una societat que s'ha inutilitzat ella mateixa.
Avui hi ha vides que depenen completament d'aquest món digital.
Ahir va ser una advertència.
No podem continuar construint la nostra vida només al voltant de la digitalització.
Hem de tornar a la connexió real, a la natura, al que realment sustenta l'ànima.

Vaig sentir-me agraïda que el que faig — pintar — no s'atura quan falta la llum.
Només vaig haver de moure'm a fora, aprofitant la llum natural, i seguir creant.
L’art viu més enllà de les pantalles.

Comparteix-ho amb algú que necessiti recordar:
la seva vida és més gran que una pantalla.

This painting started simply — I wanted to use spring colors. No place in mind, just soft greens and blues and some purples.
Then we went to Cadaqués.

While walking between Cadaqués and Port Lligat, we passed Dalí’s house and followed the coastline. That’s when I realized: the painting I had started was already becoming la Costa Brava.

Those purple flowers I’d painted earlier? Similar ones were growing all along the cliffs.

Originally, the water was greyish. But to bring in that Mediterranean feeling, I added a glaze of turquoise. Small changes made it clearer what it was becoming.

I’m calling it "Camí de Ronda".

Aquest quadre va començar de manera senzilla — volia fer servir colors de primavera. Cap lloc concret al cap, només verds i blaus suaus, i alguns liles.
Després vam anar a Cadaqués.

Caminant entre Cadaqués i Portlligat, vam passar per davant de la casa de Dalí i vam seguir la costa. Va ser llavors quan vaig adonar-me que el quadre que havia començat ja s’estava convertint en la Costa Brava.

Aquelles flors liles que havia pintat abans? N’hi havia de molt semblants per tot el penya-segat.

Al principi, l’aigua era més grisa. Però per donar-li aquest to més mediterrani, hi vaig afegir una veladura de turquesa. Amb petits canvis, es va anar aclarint el que estava pintant.

L’he titulat "Camí de Ronda".

Aniré compartint més treballs i el procés que hi ha darrere — si et ve de gust veure el que ve després, em pots seguir.

Trying to be an artist in 2025 feels like painting while balancing on a moving treadmill.
(And if you know me, you know that’s... not my strong suit 😅)

You’re expected to create beautiful things and package them into perfect posts.
To build a business and make it look effortless.
To keep creating—even when the numbers don’t move.

Being an artist today means wearing every hat:
Creator, marketer, accountant, dreamer.
And still finding time (and heart) to make something from nothing.

But we keep showing up.
Because we love it.
Because want it.
Because we dream of it.

Intentar ser artista al 2025 és com pintar mentre camines damunt d’una cinta de córrer (i si em coneixes, ja saps que l’equilibri no és el meu fort 😅)

Has de crear coses boniques i les has de cobrir amb publicacions perfectes.
Has de construir el teu negoci, que sigui exitós i que sembli fàcil. Que segueixis creant, fins i tot quan els números no es mouen.

Ser artista avui vol dir portar molts barrets: creadora, venedora, comptable, somiadora.

I encara trobar temps (i ànima) per pintar.

Però continuem apareixent.
Perquè ho ens encanta.
Perquè ho volem.
Perquè somiem amb aconseguir-ho.

Si no pots comprar art, comparteix-lo.
Si no el pots compartir, comenta alguna cosa encoratjadora.

De veritat, significa molt més del que sembla.

If I had to pick a favorite portrait… oof, way too hard. Maybe I can narrow it down to a top 3? "Quiet in Color," "In the Stillness," and "Golden Resilience" (that one might be my favorite!). Totally subjective, of course—everyone sees things differently. This video was such a fun little experiment while I was killing time on the bus, playing around with new CapCut features!

Today, I’ve been working some color therapy.

Today isn’t as sunny as the other days, and I’m really missing the warmth… so I finished this little piece I’ve been working on in between moments—during breaks or while waiting for layers to dry. It’s a tiny Icelandic house in a super colorful, flowery landscape, and I’m loving it so much! Every brushstroke with these vibrant tones gives me a little thrill.

Avui, he fet una mica de teràpia amb colors.

Avui no fa tant sol com els altres dies, i trobo a faltar l'escalforeta… així que he acabat aquesta petita peça que he havia anat fent a estones—entre pauses o mentre s’assecaven altres capes. És una caseta islandesa enmig d’un paisatge ple de flors i colors vius, i me n’he enamorat!

When I paint outdoors, there’s always an unexpected element. The natural light changes everything—the colors become brighter, and the sun often makes it hard to see my reference images on my phone or tablet. That’s why these first layers are painted more from memory and feeling than from observation.

I’m revisiting Tofino, a coastal town that has a special place in my heart. I first visited while studying in Victoria, BC, Canada, and it’s a place that continues to inspire me. Wrapped in mist, with towering trees and a calm, peaceful atmosphere, Tofino feels like another world (or in one of the Twilight movies).

I’ve found a way to incorporate Catalan into my posts without straining my eyes. I didn’t want to exclude my mother tongue, so I worked on learning to use CapCut more effectively to connect with a wider audience without leaving behind my roots.

Quan pinto a l’exterior, sempre hi ha un element inesperat. La llum natural canvia tot—els colors es tornen més brillants, i sovint el sol fa difícil veure les imatges de referència al meu mòbil o tablet. Per això, aquestes primeres capes les pinto més des de la memòria i els sentiments que des del que veig.

Torno a pintar Tofino, un poble costaner que té un lloc especial al meu cor. Vaig estar-hi quan estudiava a Victoria, BC, Canadà, i és un lloc que segueix inspirant-me. Envoltat de boira, amb arbres gegants i una calma serena, Tofino em fa sentir com si fos un altre món (o en una de les pelis de Crepúsculo).

Lately, I’ve been rewatching Anne with an E, and wow… I love it even more every time.

This time, it really hit me: When did we stop doing things just because they make us happy?

Anne sees beauty in everything. She speaks her mind. She creates just for the joy of it. And honestly? I miss that.

So I’m trying to bring that part of me back—letting myself create without overthinking, just because it feels good.

Hi! I'm Mireia, an artist from Sant Cugat, Barcelona. I've always loved creating—painting, writing, singing—but I actually reconnected with painting after my first surgery. My right hand wasn’t working properly, so I challenged myself to draw every day to recover. But it wasn’t until my second surgery that I really took art seriously. Now, I paint a lot, and my dream is to live from my art.

Difficult experiences make you realize what you truly love and what you just do out of habit.
