"Coming Up Roses" takes its title from the expression for when things begin to work out. Built through layers of soft neutrals, pinks and touches of red, the painting developed intuitively, without a predetermined composition. Each mark responds to the one before it, allowing the work to find its own balance between softness, movement and optimism.
