"Platges de Barcelona"

"Platges de Barcelona" was a last-minute addition to the collection — I felt that my main Mediterranean place, Barcelona, was missing. And as I wanted the Mediterranean sea in the painting, I thought of painting the beach I saw every day while living in La Barceloneta and walking to my workplace at that time, the W Hotel.

If in our lives we had to mark some geographical points that have shaped us, I would definitely mark this as one of mine. That time showed me a lot about myself, and it was also the last time I had for “being young” and “just having fun.” Not that I haven’t had fun since, but after that I had to face life in a different way — seeing the dark spots and the difficulties along the way.

I grew.

But this beach in the painting will always be, for me, one of the landscapes of my most independent, free, crazy, and young self.
